{"id":107,"date":"2022-11-25T01:26:07","date_gmt":"2022-11-25T01:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/?p=107"},"modified":"2023-03-28T06:13:08","modified_gmt":"2023-03-28T06:13:08","slug":"misnamed-but-good-info","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/?p=107","title":{"rendered":"Misnamed, but Good Info"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In August of 2021, eLearning Industry posted an article on their blog about three \u201ccutting-edge\u201d instructional design trends that should not be considered trends, but permanent fixtures. You can find the post<a href=\"https:\/\/elearningindustry.com\/instructional-design-trends-that-will-stand-the-test-of-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> here<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those three &#8220;trends&#8221; are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Presentation and Delivery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Storytelling and Authenticity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engagement and Interaction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Technically, I think the author cheated a little by calling these three items trends.&nbsp; They are general categories not trends.&nbsp; The author then goes on to list several trends within those categories.&nbsp; But just because the topics themselves within those categories might change with time, that doesn\u2019t mean that the categories themselves are going away, just that their content will evolve.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that\u2019s just my BA in English rearing its head.&nbsp; Semantics aside, there was some interesting items in the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the author, presentation has grown increasingly important for employers.&nbsp; In particular, mixed media content is a current focus.&nbsp; As are immersive experiences and compatibility with mobile devices.&nbsp; Accessibility is also increasingly important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the storytelling and authenticity topic, designers should focus on being concise and authentic.&nbsp; Designers should offer vivid imagery instead of relying on words alone.&nbsp; The author encourages designers to try to use real-life experiences whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And finally, the author identifies gamification and experimental learning as important trends in category of engagement and interaction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the statements the author makes parallels what has been covered in my classes, although we are obviously able to go into more depth than brief blog post.&nbsp; However, this article would be a good jumping off point for someone interested in learning more about instructional design.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In August of 2021, eLearning Industry posted an article on their blog about three \u201ccutting-edge\u201d instructional design trends that should not be considered trends, but<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":143,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-107","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-education","category-it-521"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/107","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=107"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/107\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":131,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/107\/revisions\/131"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/143"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=107"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=107"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/rottsylvania.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=107"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
